Parables for the Long Way Home
Acts 13 Network – Lenten Gatherings
Jesus didn’t form disciples through lectures alone. He gathered people around tables and campfires and told stories—stories that linger, unsettle, and invite reflection rather than quick agreement. Parables were meant to be lived with, argued over, and slowly embodied in community.
During Lent, the Acts 13 Network will journey together through the parables of Jesus across the four Gospels. These stories meet us in our questions, name our resistance, and gently expose the ways we try to manage grace, control outcomes, or limit mercy. They don’t rush us to answers; they invite us into conversation, repentance, and deeper trust.
Parables for the Long Way Home is an invitation to slow down and walk together—to listen to Jesus, to one another, and to the Spirit at work in our everyday lives. As we gather around shared meals, Scripture, prayer, and communion, we’ll discover that Lent is not about getting somewhere quickly, but about learning how to travel faithfully—together.
These parables remind us that God is already on the road, moving toward us, welcoming us home, and reshaping us along the way.
